Mustache done!

Although it definitely not show quality!!

My machine decided it was going to skip stitches all over the place! I tried the walking foot, with no success, tension adjustments didn't help, nor did a new needle! It can't possibly need another service?  Grrrr......

I used a remnant of wadding that I already had, but it was a polyester that was pretty uneven and too springy for my liking. Referring back to the above issue, I wonder if this was another factor in the stitches skipping??

Anyhow, here it is!! Finished size 85cm x 75cm. The backing is a nod to famous mustache wearer....

A favourite meme of mine :

All about the 'stache...

Mustaches seem to be big thing right now... or maybe I am a little late onto the bandwagon?

Inspired by some quilts I had seen online, I dug out some tartan/checks/plaids and I paired them with some matching plains, drew a 'stache design on some visoflix and used the scraps to put some random coloured scraps, raw edge stitched and this is where I'm at:

It's not going to be a terribly large quilt - the base squares are only 12cm square - but a quickie to design and sew! All the rows are ready to go together, but that's a job for tomorrow...

A couple of distractions...

Since I'm on hols, I have plans to do "house stuff".....

But today was the calm before the storm. Tomorrow is going to be DIRTY! And by dirty, I mean digging in the dirt... ;)  I decided the back lawn was beyond fixing, so it's all coming out. Bin ordered, turf cutter booked, ute borrowed, all good so far......

But today I did some sewing! Found some remnant curtain fabric I bought, and with 3metres at my disposal, I managed to make 5x rather large bags! It had a cute all-over bear print that matched at the sides, hence the extra width, although I bet no one notices, but I will know the pattern matches at the sides....

Also a piece of Thomas the Tank Engine made it six for the day....

Something a little different...

A mermaid! My own interpretation, of course.....

More fishy than human, but that is the point!

She has a fishy tail, fins and gills, so far. Her eyelashes are actually on upside down, because you couldn't see the jewels! LOL!! Still more work to do, but here she is still a work in progress...

A change of clothes...

I was not loving the dress for puppy... I mean, it was OK, but not blowing my mind...

So, a rethink was in order! The design was fine - was it the colour? Tried again in a black floral, and with a few tweaks to the length an the collar, I think we have a winner!

I also removed the whiskers, since a comment made to me that it made her look more like a cat. I was unsure, but I do like it better.

She also needed some shoes, so rather than make some, I painted them on. Easy peasy!!

Her pants have a hole for the tail to fit, and was made using my new favourite method - a rectangle! Super easy!!

Now, she needs a collar, but I think the mini buckle and ribbon will do for now, and I can now move on to another idea - this one could be a bit slippery.....
