Puppy face mod...

Crisis over!! After many attempts at removing the black paint from the bear bodice, I FINALLY have a decent result! Phew.... No need to remake, thank goodness!!

I found the eyelashes I bought to try on the puppy face, and I think I like them! Not sure how they are supposed to be attached, but they come with glue, so maybe that is the way to go? I will live with it for a week and see how I feel...

Puppy progress...

Gosh it's cold!! Yeah, I know... It IS Winter, but still... brrrrrrrrrrr.......

I had most of the puppy pieces cut out a couple of weeks ago, but had to focus on the bears, but today I couldn't wait any longer. The ears were the only thing left to cut out, but the pattern was done.

I decided to set in the arms this time, and add a wrist. Not sure if I like it, the wrist that is, not the arms..

Major fault, though, painting the pads and spots after was a PAIN! I was going to make them washed out, like his face, but put the paint on too heavy and managed to smudge one paw! Grrrr...

Haven't washed off the blue pen yet or decided on clothes, but at least the main part is done!

Final point of note - DO NOT USE BLACK PAINT NEAR WHITE SATIN!! I was trying to get the stand that was holding the bride bear and she fell over into the paint! PANIC!! Straight under the tap she went, fingers crossed it comes off! What a completely stupid thing to do!!

Oh well, she's only going on the front of a Limo, right??

Happy WA Day!!

So, today is a public holiday for WA Day (although it is still Foundation Day to me...) and I have been on my own since the Boy went to Kalgoorlie on Friday. I had plenty of alone time to focus on what needs to be finished. Top of the list, the bears!!

I spend a great deal of Saturday on the bodice, and the skirt Sunday morning. Not too pleased with the result but it will do the job! Still need to add the beads, but it will be OK in the end. Shoes are an issue also - not sure where to go with them...

Also found a tie pattern for toys (its awesome!!) so groom bear now has a tie in Dusty Rose, the requested bridesmaid colour. Just need to find the remaining black fabric and test out some pockets and he is DONE! I will need to permanently attach the shoes so they don't fall off when they are on the front if the Limo!

Now that the Boy is back from Kal, the house has been like grand central station!! 3 visitors today, so no more progress! Think I need to go back to work for a rest.....

Lazy weekend....

Very little productivity in my house this weekend... Not enough motivation...

However, I did paint a new face - a puppy this time. I found some furry spot (an old car seat cover, I think - waste not... LOL!) so he's a white doggie with black splotches. Once again, I had no idea where I was going when I started to paint, but I think he's going to be fine...

Ears are next, hopefully I can get them in proportion! I was hoping not to have to hand sew them again, but it will most likely be the best way to go. So many more decisions to make this time around! Not sure why that is?

Kitty spent the weekend at work! I forgot to bring her home after a show and tell on Friday, but I'm sure she's fine with TRG Bear to keep her safe, Western Power bear keeping the lights on and SO Ted putting out all the fires! Have to bring Doris home for repair - her leg fell off! It's ok, though, cause the others have also...

Anyway, as a final pic, here are my original sketches for both kitty and puppy together. Only simple line drawings, but all my own work, and I'm very proud of them. I have another couple of sketches of animals that will be next on the list - all will be revealed at a later date...

MUST DO THE BRIDE BEAR!! Stop procrastinating, and do it already!!! Too many other distractions.. I am taking Wednesday as annual leave from work is I can go to the Craft and Quilt Fair, so that's not going to help... At least I now know the colour of the bridesmaids, so groom bear can finally be finished. So do it, already! Yikes!! :)

Hexies!

I had some leftover strips of the cute marine print I used on the Wonky Crosses quilt, and realised that it was a repeat pattern and I've wanted to try the triangle hexagons for ages so I thought why not?? It was a scrap piece anyway, so nothing to lose!

These were the first results! I was originally going to put them together but each hex needed to standout on its own, so after some thought, I decided to include a border between the blocks. My head just about exploded trying to figure out the math!! I had seen them done with a seam on the horizontal (which is why the are still in halves!) but it was just not making sense!! Decided instead to tackle Y seams. These turned out to be easier than I thought!

With accurate measurements, they are easy as pie! Just remember to stop on the seam allowance, or you can get into trouble. Not that I'm saying I made zero mistakes! There are a couple of wrinkles that need to be steamed out, but considering how many I had to do, there aren't that many overall....

So this is where it stands right now. As for the gaps.... who knows??

Maybe filling with just white and the green contrast border? I will need to live with it for a bit before I make a final decision...

Happy Mothers Day to all the mums out there, especially my own crafty mum!!!!! Can't wait to show her the final product. She taught me everything I know, and I value her opinion on everything! Luv ya, mum!!
