Another Baby Face trial...

Not liking this style on Dee Dee too much. It's too full at the hem, and the fabric was far too soft.

Baby Face have a slightly bigger head than the BSB's, so I used the next pattern size up. But it turns out the smaller one works HEAPS better, perhaps with a wider brim? Will need to try this one again, with a few minor adjustments....

Second draft...

Made the pants puffy-er, added the frill To the top (a bit too full but still cute...) and increased the brim of the hat and SUCCESS!!!

There is actually a bow at the front in self fabric, which is hard to see, but it's definitely there! More to come....

Finally!! Some inspiration!!

One of my favorite dolls, my Baby So Beautiful by Playmates, has been looking at me, longing for some new threads. Oh, alright already! Stop with the puppy dog eyes!!!! I'll do something new!!!!

After looking online for some pics of original outfits I found one I liked - a cute little A-line summer top, pantaloons and floppy hat. There is a distinct theme amongst these dolls - they are always very girly! Floral prints, gathered waists, puffy sleeves, always cute and age appropriate - all points that I have trouble with! But here is my first draft, anyway. Need to make a make a few adjustments to the design and construction method and have another go at it......

Finished, but revisited....

I wasn't 100% happy with this table runner. It seemed unfinished somehow, like it needed something else. And then it came to me - add another row of black hexs at either end!

I had originally run out of black denim, but was given another pair of jeans to cut up. Brilliant timing!! I still had the pattern and threads.... You would never have known if I didn't tell you, right??

More beach babes...

I loved making the first 2 Beach Babes, so I made a couple more!!

Made a slight mod to the bikini top and took a few liberties with hair colours, but the look cool, hey??

Now, what to do with them...... Hmmmmm.....

Bags gifted to Grandma....

We had a family Christmas lunch a couple of weeks ago, so I took the opportunity to give Grandma her new shopping bags (since the last ones were stolen, along with her scooter..).

They were put to good use when she left, carrying all her other Chrissy pressies... I'd call that a success!!!

(apologies for the quality of the shot - the lighting was terrible!!)

Something a little different....

I've had this magazine for AGES and always wanted to try the Beach Babes pattern by Natashia Curtin but never got around to it.... Till now.....

Once I decided on the fabrics, it was so easy to trace off the pieces to fusible web, iron on, cut out and iron in place.

Obviously I haven't done the blanket stitching, since I don't even know what I am going to put them on, but you get the general idea.

I love my nonstick teflon sheet I got at the last quilt fair! Just let it cool, and they just peel off!! And you can see through it, which makes it easy to line up the pieces before ironing.

Think I might make some more, just to have handy...

FYI, the magazine doesn't ACTUALLY picture the snorkeller, however I did find the finished pic at smeedesigns.com, where you can buy this pattern, if you want to try it yourself....

(I wonder if I could make her a "topless" bather, for a naughty twist???)

Library bags... Part 2..

Bought some zips, so all the pencil cases are DONE!!

These are the easiest thing to make, and I think they just finish the bags nicely.

I didn't realise quite how faded one part of the fabric was until I looked at the photos! Since it was recycled fabric, I wonder what it was used for?? Maybe it was next to the window for a looooonnnnng time?? The fabric quality is fine, just the slightly faded print.....
