Library bags...

Bought these remnants a while ago. It was 2 pieces of curtain fabric approx 115cmx110cm, so with some careful planning I managed to get 4 library bags (so not too big, about 45cm square) and 4pencil cases (to be finished - no zips!!).

These will probably go to Santas Workshop but will try and sell them first and recoup some cash! I know they were only recycled remnants, but threads cost money, and then there is the power (iron, lights, sewing machine, etc) and time.....

And I sold NOTHING at Doll Club, not that I expected to. Maybe I will try a swap meet when it gets a bit warmer... Maybe....

Second bag done.....

Basically, same as first with different fabric pockets...

Although the base fabric looks quite yellow in the pictures, it's actually more green in real life......

One down....

My grandmother recently had her scooter stolen with the shopping bags I made for her in it, so for Christmas I thought this I would replace them with all new ones.

So far, one done, the other cut out and ready to go!! You will recognize the pocket fabric as leftovers from the aprons - waste not, want not!!

Since I miscalculate the aprons I ended up with a whole binding strip leftover. I used this for the handles and pieced the bigger leftover bits to make 2 pieces big enough for pockets. With that fabric you can hardly even tell!! Same style pocket on both sides.....

Just showing off....

Have got my entries back from the Canning Show...

Aprons, aprons and even MORE aprons!!

Made 3 more apron/mitt combos, but miscalculated the cutting out, so each apron has 2 mitts and no potholder... Oh well.....

Last time I used an old towel to make the mitts heat proof, but didn't this time so had to add labels stating PLAY ONLY!! I don't want any burned fingers!!!!

More sleeping bags....

Already had them cut out, but didn't put in the batting. Also slightly modified the construction method, simplified a LOT! And added a little girls touch with some lace scraps.....

Christmas fever!!

So, since I had my Christmas prints out anyway, I decided to make another Christmas quilt...

This time I used 2 A4 pieces of paper cut in half, and then random pieced around some really cute Christmas koalas, sashed and then bound. I stipple quilted (quite badly..) around the blocks, highlighting the koalas with straight stitching and the blocks themselves. A few crinkles on the sashing, so don't look too close!!

Also made a couple of stockings to go with it.....

Secret Santa...

At Doll Club this month, we are having our Christmas party, including a Secret Santa.

Since the limit was only $5, I thought I could make something using the umpteen different Christmas prints I have in storage boxes.

I saw a simple star shape using batik fabrics and translated it into a doll quilt. Easy and fun!! Only complaint was that I forgot about the seam allowances and ended up with copious amounts of fabric at the corners, making it a bit bulky. Not to worry!! I managed to flatten it out with some topstitching.....

I had some leftover strips, so made a little matching pillow slip. Might do some little stockings next.....maybe...

Prizes, prizes, PRIZES!!!

Spent this morning as a Steward in the craft pavilion at the Canning Show. Spoke to loads of people, gave out loads of schedules. Definite lack if entries this year, as well as ticket numbers through the gate...

Come on people!!! We have to support our local Shows, or they will cease to exist!!!

Anyway....

So, after considering not putting her in at all, my Rainbow Fairy actually got first place!!! Amazing!! And my rushed little striped overall man came third! Mum is not pleased, since her dolly didn't place.... Sorry, Ma.....
Also got 2nd place for my child's apron/pot holder/oven mitts combo and my Matryoshka got a third prize. The other aprons failed to be judged due to the category they were placed into. Oh well, at least I'm up 2 entries for next year already! Hopefully they add the "any other article" category back into the sewing section......

Better start sewing for next year! I feel a champion ribbon coming on.....
