Queen of the Rainbow Fairies - version 1

Since the next theme at Doll Club is "Over the Rainbow" (my suggestion...) I thought I would try to make a Foster Child using some coloured stretch. Experimenting with some horrible floral in reds and greens and yellows for the body, arms and legs but leaving the head flesh coloured. Not terribly successful - only because the stretch was sooooo stretchy I had to be careful not to overstuff, or she would have had elephantitis legs and arms! Here are some preliminary pics of the head and body, showing off her car doors - oops!! I mean ears........

This is after the eyes are painted and the sculpting is done. Her ears will be pinned back, once she is put altogether! She is from the Elfin pattern. Oh, and she is a little wet from taking all the blue pen marks off. I have made a wig but its a bit too full, so am in the process of unpicking it and redoing it slightly differently.

So here she is so far - not too sure about that dress...... Have bought some better fabric to give her a bit more of a "royal" look. A queen needs some bling, right?? Oh, and these pics don't do the fabric justice. It is BRIGHT!

As you can see, her wig is a bit tooooooo full. The size of her ponytail means she is top heavy. Rather than use the wool directly from the ball, I crocheted chains of about 40cm and brushed out the fibres to fluff them up. It is so soft, but very full!! Going to try and cover the base and then add some styling - maybe a top knot to put a tiara on?? Hmmmmmm.........
