Top Gear Live...

The Boy has been a HUGE Top Gear Fan for years, so we had to go to the live shows!!

The first one we went to was in Sydney in Feb 2009. This was interesting, since I was not long out of hospital and walking was still a bit tricky, but I was determined to go. The only trouble I had was mainly getting into the trains, as they are double decker, so there was no escaping stairs!! And they don't stop at the stations for very long. Anyway, back on topic.....

When we arrived, we were given a map and we wandered about a bit. We HAD to buy the programme, a Tshirt, a keyring and other stuff. When we got into the arena to see the show, there was a sheet and 3D glasses on each seat. Show was FAB, especially the 3D Helicopter chase!!!! So, we took everything home to look through. I thought all this stuff would make a great memory box but didn't get around to doing anything about it till we found out TG Live was coming back AGAIN!! AWESOME!!!!! Better do something about all that stuff in the bag! Found at IKEA a 50cm square picture frame which was perfect. I bought 2, just in case they weren't going to be available next year. Luckily, they are still available!! I used styrofoam to push some parts forward against the glass and left other parts flat against the back to give a bit of a 3D effect.....

So here is the result from 2009.... Unfortunately we threw away the ticket stubs - made sure we kept them next time - but we did take a photo of the Boy outside the arena, underneath the banner.

This is 2010... Used the original design as a base, but managed to lose a coloured card (one card is double sided) so I had one colour copied. Remembered to keep the ticket stub this time, too!!

2011 was held in Melbourne. It was much more of a festival, with pavilions of stuff to see, a race track and the show was under a big marquee (think Cirqu du Soleil). Definitly not as spectacular as the first one - I think if you are going to the trouble to get Clarkson and May to Australia, they should have had much more interaction with the crowd and less precision driving. Don't get me wrong, it was awesome, but a little same-same. Nothing really new and exciting, and no show poster! Had to make one up and print it myself.....

Its just been announced that they are coming here, to Perth, in December. You betcha, we'll be there!! However, since its the same as the Melbourne show, we'll be in the cheap seats. And there is no festival or outside show - just one show per night, 3 nights. Could be a bit drab, but at least our family and friends can see what they are like for themselves. Bring on December!!!!
